In a close first set, the Lady Eagles came out with energy. Towards the middle of the first set the girls got into a rut, but quickly came back with the help of strong servers to close the first set 26-24.

“Junior varsity set the tone with a win in their match, so the varsity team then came out with a lot of energy,” said Tyrone senior Bri Foy, “Everyone did their job in the first set resulting in the win of the first set.”

In the second set, the Lady Eagles got out on Bellefonte early and kept the lead throughout the game. The second set ended with a score of 25-16 and got the crowd excited.

“Considering the few changes in the starting lineup, the girls did well working together as a team and fought for every point. The girls came out with a mindset to win and it showed on the court with defense and serving which won the game for us,” said Tyrone Assistant Head Coach Bob Oberhiem.

The third set was closer than the second, but serving yet again played a huge role in the success of the game. The third set and the match went to the Lady Eagles 25-21.

Freshman Vivian Sciarrillo started her first varsity game against the Red Raiders.

“It was really great being able to play with varsity for the first time,” said Sciarrillo, “I was super nervous, but the whole team was extremely supportive so my nerves turned into excitement. I was so excited to get my first kill too, and I can’t wait to do it again.”
