Lady Eagles Stampede the Bisons

The Lady Eagles defeated Clearfield in 3 effortless sets. The first set was won 25-8, second 25-17, and third 25-10. Tyrone was strong in all the elements needed to win a volleyball game. This game put the ladies in a 6-5 lead in the Mountain League. Currently, they are in the top 5.

Freshman setter Logan Johnston had an overall total of 7 assists with junior Lea Crofcheck close behind having 6 assists.

The girls had a total of 22 aces. Brianna Foy had the most with 9, Maddie Viet with 5, Lea Crofcheck with 4 and Alexis Cannistraci and Torrie Foy with 2. The girls worked hard, and they accumulated the stats to prove it.

Junior Emily Fusco led the team with 6 kills and senior Shaniah Lowery with 4. Senior Alexis Cannistraci also contributed with 2 aces. Overall, the team had 14 kills.

“As soon as I began doing well and having fun, I got pulled out of the game,” said Lowery during the third and final set.

Clearfield’s offense wasn’t strong, so Tyrone’s defensive stats weren’t as high as normal because they didn’t have as much to work with. Out of the few hits Clearfield had, Tyrone blocked a total of 4 of them. Sophomore Kristen Johnson led with 2, Crofcheck had 1, and Lowery also had 1.

Since the Eagles had accumulated so many points on the Bison, the Tyrone JV team got play time in a varsity game. All of the players except the libero, got subbed out in order for the JV team to go in.

“I found it funny that he decided to put almost the entire JV lineup in for the varsity game,” said freshman Ebonee Rice.
