Lady Eagles Fall in District Title Game

Tyrone softball had a record breaking season, and continues to improve and grow.  However, the district championship eluded the Lady Eagles this season, falling to the defending champion Bellefone Red Raiders 2-0 in the title game.

Tyrone struggled to hit Bellefonte sophomore pitcher Lexi Rogers.  Junior Ally Jones had the only hit of the game for Tyrone.

Tyrone left a number of people on base and the umpires made several controversial calls in Bellefonte’s favor along the way.

Tyrone’s Cate Baran had 12 strikeouts and gave up only four hits.  Bellefonte was able to manufacture two runs, one in the third and one in the sixth to take their second straight district title.

On the season the Lady Eagles went 14-8 and broke the school record for most wins in a single season. Tyrone also posted their first winning record and first playoff victory in 15 years. The last winning season was in 2004, since then Tyrone has struggled to put together a winning season.

In the first round of the playoffs the Lady Eagles beat Cambria Heights in the semi-finals 7-2 to advance to the District Championship finals. In the finals,

Overall, the Lady Eagles had their best season in years and are continuing to improve the program. The Lady Eagles hope to return to the District Finals next year as an improved and experienced team.
