Junior Sydney Shaw and senior Emily Lehman combined for 29 points led the Lady Eagles to a 56-46 victory over Mountain League opponent Huntington Bearcats, handing the Bearcats their first loss of the season.

The Lady Eagles got themselves into foul trouble early which lead to solid minutes from girls coming off the bench including Kelsey Johnson, Lindsay Fusco, Shannon Shaw and Chesney Saltsgiver.

Freshman Shannon Shaw came off the bench to score nine points in the fourth quarter which ended up sealing the game in favor of Tyrone.

“Shannon really stepped up for us, and gave us a push that lead us to the win,” said Sydney Shaw.

Defense and rebounding were the keys of the game.

Senior Payton Wagner and sophomore Mia Kosoglow were very aggressive and lead the team on defense.

“We took a step in the right direction,” said Head Coach Luke Rhoades.

With the win on Monday the Lady Eagles move to 2-2 on the season, with a 2-1 record in the mountain. The Lady Eagles take on the Ligonier Valley Lady Rams on Thursday.

This Thursday the Lady Eagles take on the Lady Rams at Ligonier Valley.
