Lady Eagles Beat Bellefonte 3-2

Tyrone Head Coach Mike Kraft and the Lady Eagles were happy to get a win over Bellefonte after a very busy season and some tough losses.
“This was a much-needed win for us after a tough schedule early on this year,” said Kraft.

The team served very well in the first set and was strategic with where they tipped, rolled, and hit the ball. The Red Raiders struggled to keep up and the Eagles won 25-14.
In the second set, the Raiders played smarter. Utilizing their outside hitter they were able to earn more points. The Lady Eagles blocking and defense struggled slightly and Bellefonte won 25-23.
The third was another close set. The Lady Eagles used their outside and back row hitters to keep the opposing team on their toes. With a few good plays and some mistakes from the Lady Raiders, Tyrone won 25-23.
In the fourth set, Tyrone was losing some momentum. The previous two sets were long and competitive which caused some performance issues. Some of Tyrone’s hits were out of bounds but the girls remained consistent with their serves and defense. Eventually, Tyrone lost this set 22-25.
The fifth set would determine who took the victory. After a short streak of losses, Tyrone was ready to win and the Lady Eagles stepped up. Senior Makenna Bauer took some hard down line hits and got many kills. Freshman Alissa Wheland went on a run of aces that upped the chances of a win. Finally, the girls won 15-9.
“It felt amazing to be able to contribute to a win, especially since it was a close game,” said freshman Alysa Wheland.
JV won both sets, 25-10, and 25-18, and they remain undefeated at 8-0. Varsity won against Bellefonte 3-2. Scores were 25-14, 23-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-9. They are now 3-5 overall.
