Indoor Track Season Results

January and February aren’t usually associated with track and field, but a group of Tyrone Area High School athletes have been training and competing inside this winter.

“We expect very big things to happen this season and a whole lot of PRs,” said sophomore Klayten Moore.

They have competed in three indoor meets so far this season.

KEVIN DARE INVITATIONAL

The first was the Kevin Dare Invitational on January 7th at Penn State University.

The top Tyrone finisher at the Kevin Dare Invitational was junior Brady Ronan, who finished fourth of 45 competitors in the long jump with a jump of 19-10.25. Ronan also finished 9th out of 15 (5-09) in the high jump.

Another top finisher for Tyrone was senior Deegan Balduaf, who was 35th of 68 in the 60 meters with a time of 7.59.

Kolten Miller finished 37th out of 68 with a 7.62 in the 60 meters and 47th out of 70 (56.69) in the 400 meters.

In the 200 meters, Deegan Balduaf was 43 out of 73 with a 25.02. Sophomore Austin Lucas was 44th out of 73 with a 25.05.

Rocky Romani was 61st (59.44) in the 400-meter sprint.

Justin Jackson finished 29th out of 47 (9.75) in the 60-meter hurdles and 19th out of 26 (37-01.5) in the triple jump.

Tyrone was 33 out of 38 (1:41:68) in the 4×200 meter relay.

On the girls side, senior Reagan Irons finished 8th out of 34 (4-11) in the high jump,  13th out of 45 (15-09.50) in the long jump, and 12th out of 31 (32-01.25) in the triple jump.

FIRST STATE COLLEGE INVITATIONAL 

The second annual State College Invitational was held on January 19. Tyrone got an opportunity to compete with schools they don’t compete against during the outdoor season.

Tyrone’s top finisher was senior Reagan Irons, who won the high jump with a jump of 5-2, finished third in the long jump with a jump of 15-4, and third in the triple jump with a jump of 32-11.

In the 60-meter dash, Rebecca Lewis finished 9th with a time of 8.46 and Irons finished 12th with a time of 8.60.

Lewis finished 3rd with a time of 1.04 in the 400-meter dash.  She also finished 8th in the long jump with a 14-4.

In the boys 60 meter dash, senior Kolten Miller finished 8th with a time of 7.52.

In the 200-meter dash sophomore, Austin Lucas took 9th with a time of 24.48

In the 400-meter dash Kolten Miller finished 13th with a time of 55.33, Following behind Was Klayten Moore (Usain Bolt) with a time of 59.17

In the 60-meter hurdles, senior Justin Jackson took 9th with a time of 9.27.

Tyrone’s boys’ 4 by 200 team took 7th with a time of 1:40.

In the high jump, Brady Ronan took 4th with a jump of 5-8, and he took 7th in the long jump of 19-7.

Justin Jackson also took 10th in the long jump with a jump of 18-10

In the triple jump, Justin Jackson took 5th with a jump of 39-3 and Brady Ronan took 10th with a jump of 37-9

SECOND STATE COLLEGE INVITATIONAL

On February 1st, eight Tyrone athletes competed in the 2nd State College Invitational.

Tyrone’s top finisher was senior Reagan Irons, who took another first in the high jump with a 5-2. She got 3rd in the triple jump with a 33-3, and 5th in the long jump with a 15-0.

In the Grils 60 meter dash Reagan Irons took 9th with a time of 8.45. Rebecca Lewis took 10th with a time of 8.46

In the 400-meter dash, Lewis took 6th with a time of 1:02, and n the long jump Lewis finished 4th with a jump of 15-3. Not far behind was Reagan Irons who took 5th with a jump of 15-0

In the 60-meter dash, Kolten Miller took 9th with a time of 7.45. Seth Hoover took 13th with a time of 7.56

In the 200-meter dash, Austin Lucas took 8th with a time of 24.36. Seth Hoover followed behind with a time of 25.44.

In the 400-meter dash, Kolten Miller took 13th with a time of 55.23. Klayten Moore followed Behind with a time of 58.85

In the 60-meter hurdles, Justin Jackson took 6th with a time of 9.15

Tyrone finished 3rd in the 4 by 200 relay with a time of 1:39.

In the high jump, Brady Ronan finished 2nd with a jump of 5-8, he was also 5th in the long jump with a jump of 18-11 and 4th in the triple jump with a jump of 40-0

Justin Jackson placed 10th in the long jump with a jump of 18-4

Justin Jefferson took 7th in the triple jump with a jump of 38-4.

The next indoor meet is February 15th in State College.
