HOSA Fall Blood Drive Collects 31 Units
The 2018 HOSA blood drive was held on Thursday, October 4 in the Tyrone High School gym, around 45 people were generous enough to donate blood.
“At the end of the day we collected 30 units and almost reaching our goal of 31,” said HOSA adviser Christie Taylor.
There were some complications with the donators, with some not feeling well at the blood drive to not having permissions slip in on time and piercing being less than a year old.
Some students wanted to donate blood but did not make the general guidelines, you must be at least 16 years old and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, 17-year-old require the same weight but do not require a parent permission slip.
This was the second year in a row that it has been run by HOSA, Mrs.taylors health students got to shadow during the blood drive and hand out water and snacks to the donators.
“Our goal for next year I think is going to stay the same as this years,” said Taylor.
