The Tyrone Golden Eagles delivered another dominating performance on Friday by defeating Bald Eagle 10-2, only proving they deserve their number one spot in the Mountain League.

Rodney Shultz continued his streak of quality start Friday as he kept the Bald Eagle hitters off balance all night never allowing them to put any real offense together. Shultz allowed only 2 runs on 6 hits while he struck out 5.

Tyrone’s offense only continued to get even hotter as they strung together 13 on their way to another convincing victory. Tyrone’s offensive outburst was led by senior Andrew Pearson, he hit his second home run of the season while driving in 5 runs. Cory Lehman also had 4 hits on the night, and David Lang had 2.

Tyrone’s offense was not limited to those few players as Brandon Lucas, Rodney Shultz, Colson Lewis, Nic Light and Kevin Lehner also recorded hits with Lehner Lucas, Lang and Lewis driving in runs.

Tyrone opened the scoring in the top of the second after being held quiet in the first inning but that came swiftly to a close in the second as Tyrone scored 3 runs to take an early lead.

Bald Eagle got on the board in the second but were unable to muster much offense off of Shultz and cut into Tyrone’s lead. The score after two innings had Tyrone leading by a score of 3-1.

While Shultz continued to shut down Bald Eagle Tyrone was not done yet. Even though they were held silent in the third they came back out in the top of the fourth and scored 4 runs raising their lead to 7-1.

Bald Eagle managed to score one more run off of Shultz in the bottom of the fifth but that was all they would score for the rest of the way. Aiden Coleman came in to relieve Shultz and picked up right where he left off. Coleman allowed 2 hits over 2 inning and struck out three.

With the victory the Golden Eagles record moves to 15-2 on the season. The Golden Eagles host P.O. tomorrow in a battle atop the Mountain League. The Golden Eagles currently hold a one game lead over the Mounties. In the last matchup between the two teams Tyrone took the victory by a score of 8-2.
