Golden Eagles Fall to the PV Rams in a Mountain League Duel

By losing to Penns Valley 45-35, Tyrone’s hopes for winning the Mountain League are over. The best that could happen for the Eagles is a tie with Huntingdon.

Senior Parker Mitchell was the leading scorer for Tyrone with 13 points.

The Golden Eagles’ shooters couldn’t get much going against the Rams and their slashers couldn’t get to the rim effectively. Turnovers plagued Tyrone from beginning to end.

They just wanted it more than we did, and that’s why they won the game

— Coach Gripp

“They just wanted it more than we did, and that’s why they won the game,” said Tyrone head coach Geroge Gripp after the upset loss.

Looking ahead, as long as the Eagles win out, they will get a home playoff game.

Although it is very advantageous to have a first-round home game, their opponent will most likely be Johnstown, a team that the Eagles lost to by 10 earlier in the season..

Moreover, the last week of the season will be a tough one for the Eagles. They play Juniata on Tuesday, Bald Eagle on Wednesday, and Penns Valley again on Friday.
