Girls Soccer Falls to Clearfield in Overtime

In their season opener, the Tyrone Lady Eagles lost to Clearfield 2-3 in overtime with Bellwood’s Riley D’Angelo scoring both Lady Eagle goals.

Clearfield started strong with two goals in the first half catching Tyrone off guard. Clearfield’s Sarah Snyder scored at the 15 minute mark in the half, and Amanda Hazel scored at the 24 minute mark.

But to Tyrone’s credit they did not give up and battled back late in the second half. Tyrone’s Lizzie Ake cleared a ball passed Clearfield’s goalie to give D’Angelo the chance to tap a ball in for Tyrone’s frist goal of the season, making the score 1-2 at the end of the half.

During the second half, both teams were defensively strong until D’Angelo put another goal in over Clearfield’s goalie Hayley Moore head letting the score be 2-2. Both teams then continued to be strong until the final whistle, sending the game into overtime.

Tyrone was determined and played hard but fell short in the first 3 minutes of overtime. Clearfield came out offensively strong after the quick break, the Bisons’ Sarah Snyder got behind the Tyrone defense unassisted and pounded the ball into the back of net to take the win.

Clearfield had 15 shots on goal and 30 shots total, while Tyrone had 3 shots on goal and 10 shots total.
