Girls Soccer Falls Short to BG

Girls Varsity soccer scored four goals in the second half but fell short to Bishop Guilfoyle 5-4.

Bishop Guilfoyle scored the first goal of the game on a penalty kick. The Lady Eagles tripped BG forward Laney Fairbaugh in the penalty area and BG’s Dani Scipioni scored the PK. The Lady Marauders stayed defensively strong throughout the first half.

In the second half, both teams had a scoring frenzy.

BG scored two goals early to increase their lead to 3-0 over Tyrone. But the Lady Eagles didn’t hang their heads and Alli Partner scored unassisted from a ball that bounced off BG’s keeper.

Tyrone freshman Chloe LaRosa then scored twice in five minutes with assists from Sophia Nelson and Jaylee Shuke to tie the game at 3.

“It was a well fought game. We just couldn’t finish on the opportunities we got,” said senior captain Madison Soellner.

The Lady Eagles let up after their three goals.

BG scored two goals in two minutes to put them ahead 5-3. About 10 minutes later, Lindsey Parks scored the last goal of the game with two minutes left to make the final score 5-4 Bishop Guilfoyle.

The Lady Eagles next game is on Thursday, October 17th against Huntingdon at 6 pm.
