Getz Career Night Shoots Eagles Past Rams

The Tyrone Lady Eagle basketball team blew out the Penns Valley Lady Rams by a score of 72-52. The Lady Eagles were led by sophomore Emma Getz who dropped a career high 33 points with 7 made three point shots.

The Lady Eagles offense was propelled by their excellent three point shooting. Tyrone knocked down 11 threes. Emma Getz drained 7, Stephanie Ramsey had three and Linsday Fusco had 1.

The Rams were able to hold the Lady Eagles quiet in the first quarter because the hot hand of Getz had yet to catch fire. The first quarter came to a close with Tyrone holding a five point, 19-14 lead.

The second quarter was led by Tyrone’s stout defense. While their offense came to life putting up 19 points, their defense was the reason their lead extended. They held the Penns Valley offense to only 10 points.

In the third quarter Tyrone came out determined to slam the door shut on the Rams. They came out red hot. Every shot put up seemed to find its way to the bottom of the net. They exploded for 28 points in the third extending their lead to 61-47 after 3 quarters.

The Rams managed to outscore the Golden Eagles in the fourth quarter but Tyrone’s lead was too much to overcome the deficit. Tyrone picked up their second win of the season remaining undefeated in Mountain League play. They look to keep rolling on Wednesday as they travel to Huntingdon.
