Saint Francis University’s chapter of the national theatre honor society, Alpha Psi Omega, will present the show.

The Tyrone Area Middle School will hold a Murder Mystery Dinner fundraiser on Friday, February 21 in the high school cafeteria.

The show is a comedy called Murder at the Pie Auction.  According to the show’s publisher, “the audience becomes part of the pie auction in this hysterical comedy written specifically for dinner theatre.”

The money raised will be used to fund various field trips throughout the middle school, including a fifth grade trip to Penns Cave.

The cost of the event is $15 per person, which includes dinner and the show. The money raised will be used to fund various field trips throughout the middle school, including the fifth grade trip to Penns Cave.

“For the fifth grade, they are excited to head to Penn’s Caves and see the stalactites and stalagmites in the caves and are impressed with how they grow,” said middle school science teacher Gary Aharrah.

Other trips include the sixth-grade’s trip to Boalsburg Military Museum, seventh-grade’s trips to old Bedford Village, Kulp Farms, and Raystown Lake, and eighth-grade’s trip to Washington D.C.

Doors will open at 5:30 PM, and the dinner and show begins at 6:00 PM.

The Mystery Dinner Theatre project was started by St. Francis health science major Jodi Kutzner and is now Alpha Psi Omega’s signature performance.

Their first show, “Cafe Murder” was presented in 2016. They have also presented two other shows called “Million Dollar Meatballs” and “Lights, Cameras, Murder!”

Food will be provided by Nutrition Inc. The menu will be Italian chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli, refreshments and dessert.

There will also be a silent auction (including pies, of course!) that will be donated by local businesses.

Tickets can be purchased from the middle school office for $15 per person. Limited tickets will be available on the day of the show. To order tickets call the middle school office at 814-684-4240.
