Extinguisher simulator: Wyatt Walls, a junior firefighter from Neptune Fire Company taught about “PASS” and then each of the students were used the simulator to learn how to use an fire extinguisher.

Members of the Tyrone Area FFA and junior firefighter Wyatt Walls of the Neptune Volunteer Fire Company, joined forces to educate 103 kindergarteners on four different Ag Safety Day activities on April 30.

The event aimed to instill safety education in young students, fostering awareness of their surroundings and nurturing sound decision-making skills.

“Ag Safety Day provides an engaging platform for kids to learn about safety, benefiting their own lives and those of others. The hard work put in by our FFA chapter truly made this event a success,” sophomore Madison Jones said.

Throughout the day, FFA members led sessions covering fire, hearing, lawn mower, water, bicycle, sun, ATV, and railroad safety. Each lesson was complemented by a fun activity to actively involve the students in the learning process.

“The kids were thoroughly entertained, filling me with happiness and hope for the future,” freshman Kaylee Little said.

Educating students in these essential skills can help them implement these practices at home, creating a safe environment for their families. This fosters positive habits that contribute to their personal growth.

“Today was productive as the students actively participated and engaged in hands-on activities,” sophomore Jeremiah Blazer said.

The program was planned and carried out by the student-led committee, who brainstormed ideas and ensured smooth operations.

More than 400 hours were spent by the on-site coordinators Nora Hoy and advisor Tiffany Hoy, along with the other committee and volunteers.

Ag Safety Day not only provided valuable knowledge but also instilled the importance of safety in the next generation.
