The Pennsylvania FFA State Officer Team kicked off the year with the Fall Leadership Conference (FLC) at the Blair County Convention Center in Altoona on October 1st.

There were more than 400 FFA members from across the state who took part in the annual conference which has two tracks – first year member and officer workshops.

“I learned many new things about serving as the chapter president,” said Carly Crofcheck.

In the FFA there are six traditional officer positions: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, reporter, and sentinel.  A chapter may also add other needed officers to their roster.  During the conference chapter officers worked directly with the State FFA Officers to gain experience and knowledge of their elected positions.

“This was a great experience and I have a better understanding of how FFA can impact me as a leader,” said Gage Light, first year member.

“This conference was interactive and it was neat to be able to experience Ag careers, contests, and leadership skills.  We also got to meet new people,”  said first year FFA member Daniel Peterson.

Hunter Reese, also a new member, thought it was interesting to meet the FFA state representatives.

The Fall Leadership Conference is an example of how the FFA aims to make a positive difference in the lives of students through leadership, personal growth, and career success.
