Senior QB/DB Erik Wagner will continue his football career at Lycoming College

The third and final member of the senior class who was expected to continue their football career in college has made the decision to be a Warrior of Lycoming College.

Erik Wagner, two year starting quarterback and defensive back for the Golden Eagles, has made his decision after considering multiple colleges.

Wagner made his decision after narrowing his choices to Shippensburg, Juniata, and Lycoming.

“The decision definitely took some time and was not very easy to make,” stated Wagner.

Wagner said that many schools across the state showed interest.  After narrowing his choices to three, he weighed the pros and cons, including academics, atmosphere of the college, and size of the college.

Once everything was figured out, Lycoming was Wagner’s choice to further his education as a student-athlete. He is expecting to be a strong safety for the Warriors and hopes to help Lycoming continue their successful program.

“They have the most championships of any team in their conference,” said Wagner. “I hope to be a part of their successful program and be a member of a team that wins another Middle Atlantic Conference.”

Jason Wilson, new coach of the Golden Eagles and Wagner’s defensive coordinator believes Wagner will excel as a Warrior.

“Erik has a great work ethic and leadership skills. His football knowledge is outstanding and will fit well at Lycoming,” said Wilson, “Erik is able to quickly understand schemes and what the opponents are trying to accomplish, which puts him a step ahead of everyone.”

“He will be outstanding for the Lycoming football program just as he has been for the Tyrone program for the last two seasons,” added Wilson
