Eagle Eye Promposal Contest: Not Going Solo
After a long day at work, Brooke McNeel came home to a wonderful surprise. Her boyfriend Josh Harshbarger set up 64 solo cups on the ground that spelled out “PROM?” Brooke walked out onto her loft and looked over to see the cups. She was surprised because she wasn’t expecting it and she was planning on promposing to him.
We had a chance to sit down and talk with the couple about their promposal:
Promposer:Josh Harshbarger:
Eagle Eye: Who did you ask to go to prom with?
Josh Harshbarger: Brooke McNeel
EE: Describe in detail how you asked them.
JH: I went to the store after I got off work to pick up the supplies to make it. With a jumbo marker, posterboard, and 64 solo cups, I had what I needed. I had the idea for a few days, but I wanted to do it right before I went back to college for the week. I knew it would be special. I knew that she would be at work until 9 the night I did it. This gave me the opportunity to go to her house and get it set up. I texted her mom and asked if I could come over early and explain what I was doing. Her mom loved the idea and was glad to help. Brooke’s bedroom is on a loft looking down onto the living room.So I moved the furniture so the room was open. I spelled out “prom” in solo cups on the floor. When she got home from work, her parents rushed her up the stairs, blindfolded so she couldn’t see a thing. She changed out of her work clothes into a t-shirt and leggings and walked out her door and looked over the balcony. She then saw me on the couch holding a poster saying “Don’t go solo, go with me!”
EE: Why did you choose this person?
JH: I chose Brooke because she is very special to me. I see things in her that most people don’t. She is easily the most spontaneous, fun, loving person I could ever go to prom with. I’ve never been to a prom, but I know Brooke is gonna make it memorable.
EE: Where did you get the inspiration to ask?
JH: the inspiration came from my head. I knew promposals were a big deal and wanted to make her senior year special. I spent an entire day thinking of ideas, and I settled with the one she would like the best.
EE: What relationship do you have with the person?
JH: My girlfriend
Promposee: Brooke McNeel
EE: Give us your side of the story. Why do you think they asked you?
Brooke McNeel: I think the reason he asked me is because it is his first prom and it’s my last so I think he wanted it to be special.
EE: Describe in detail how you were asked and how you felt.
BM: Well, I had to work the night he asked me. When I walked in the house I was told to change my clothes because my mom said “you’re gonna want your picture taken.” Once I was changed Josh blindfolded me and walked me out into my living room. I opened my eyes, and there it was! I was full of excitement, and joy. I obviously said yes!
EE: Did you have any suspicions that you were going to be asked by them?
BM: No, I did not because I was going to ask him, but he asked me first!
EE: Why should you win this contest?
BM: The reason why I should win the contest is because I’m a senior and it’s my last prom. He’s a freshman in college and this is his first prom too. It’d really help us both out financially. Also, I think it’d make our relationship stronger.
