Hollidaysburg  5 Tyrone 1

Tyrone traveled to take on the defending District 6 3A champions of Hollidaysburg on Monday, and though the lopsided results were disappointing, the game still offered a bright spot for the Lady Eagles.

Hollidaysburg opened the scoring early in the first half, when Mandy Sky redirected a cross from McKenna Hurd. Tyrone’s defense settled down and slowed the Tiger’s attack until 10 minutes left in the half, when Division 1 prospect Sydney Routch scored to put Tyron down 2-0 heading into the half.

Routch would score again 2 minutes into the first half with Hurd notching another assist. Routch would complete a hattrick when she converted on a ball from Sky. Sky would return the favor with 8 minutes remaining in the game when Routch played her the ball in the box.

With four minutes left in the game, Junior Riley D’Angelo scored unassisted. In preventing the shutout, D’Angelo became the first player since Carrie Vance in 2014 to score her 50th career goal.

“I’m super grateful for the opportunity and all of my teammates for getting me there,” said D’Angelo.

Central 2 Tyrone 1

After a proud performance but a disappointing result the last time they played Central, Tyrone went into Tuesday’s match ready for battle.

Tyrone held off Central’s potent attack until Cassie Mock lobbed a ball from the corner flag over Tyrone’s Kelsey Johnson midway through the first half.

Tyrone didn’t back down, and, nearing the end of the first half, Maqqel Kosoglow redirected a cross from Kendall Marley to tie the game 1-1 going into halftime.

Central came out of the break breathing fire and scored moments after the kickoff during a scrum in the box to go up 2-1. While Tyrone’s defense went the remainder of the game without conceding another goal, the Dragon’s dominated possession and Tyrone couldn’t find an equalizer.

Central remains the only Mountain League foe that has gone undefeated against Tyrone’s current senior class.

Huntingdon 6 Tyrone 1

Once again, the Huntingdon dominated Tyrone, burying the Eagles in the first half. After a going scoreless in three straight losses, Huntingdon was all business. Heather Gutshall opened the scoring 9 minutes into the half, and scored two more before the twenty minute mark. Maddie Deforest would score the Bearcats’ fourth goal putting Tyrone down 4-0. With 6 minutes to go, Tyrone converted on a free kick and ended the first half down 4-1.

Early in the second half, Gutshall scored her 50th career goal, putting Tyrone down 5-1.  Gutshall assisted on Rachel Gwinn’s goal minutes later, sealing Huntingdon’s 6-1 victoy.
