Cross Country team performs well at league championship

In an up and down year for the cross country team, a strong performance at the Mountain League Championships bring created some much needed morale.

Freshman runner Joe Kohler led the team with a time of 18:17 placing 4th. Finishing behind him was junior Adam Zook in 5th, finishing in 18:22.

Senior Zack Myers ran a 21:14 and junior Sean Isenberg turned in a time of 21:21. They were followed closely by junior Cody Eckels and freshman Zack Webster with times of 22:04 and 22:38.

On the girls side, sophomore Sean Dawson led the led eagles with a time of 23:42 placing 10th. In a strong performance, senior Grace Mckernan turned in a time of 25:12, finishing 18th.

“I was really impressed with our effort,” said Head Coach Tammy Wills,”we really overcame the elements to turn in a good performance overall.”

Tyrone looks ahead to Monday’s Blair-Huntingdon meet and next Saturday’s District championships with optimism.

“We have some great runners on this team, some with the potential to advance on to the state meet,” said Wills,”this is really a great group of kids to coach.”
