Pregame Fun at the Backyard Brawl Tailgate

What’s a football game without a tailgate? Members of the Golden Revolution hosted a Backyard Brawl Tailgate for the 2023 game.

The event attracted about 80 students and featured a number of activities including spike ball, Can-Jam, Cornhole, Tie-dye, Sign making, music, and food provided.

I thought we had a great turnout at the tailgate and I hope to see it succeed in upcoming years

— Bree Paul

Senior Bree Paul was one of the main organizers of the event. According to Paul, it took about two weeks to plan and promote the event, but it was definitely worth the time and effort.

I thought we had a great turnout at the tailgate and I hope to see it succeed in upcoming years,” Paul said. “My favorite part was probably just the atmosphere. With all the games and music I thought it was really fun.”

The faculty sponsor for the tailgate was Golden Revolution adviser Mike Funicelli. He also thought the event was a success.

I think the tailgate went super well. The pizza was hot, the tie dye shirts were colorful, the outdoor game competitions were fierce, and the signs that students made for the football team were creative. I thank the members of Golden Revolution for their planning and help,” Funicelli said.

Junior Logan Rumburger was one of the students who attended.

“It was a good turnout for the tailgate. We all had a great time listening to music and playing games,” Rumberger said.

According to members of Golden Revolution who helped with the tie-dye station, students created about 60 shirts.

The club hopes that the tailgate will become a yearly tradition.
