The 24th Annual Tyrone Art Show will be held in the Tyrone High School gymnasium on Thursday, April 24th, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:30 pm, with the awards ceremony beginning at 2:15 pm.
The event is free and open to the public and will showcase more than 100 original student works across a wide range of media, including drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and ceramics.
This year’s guest juror is 2016 Tyrone Area High School graduate and accomplished mixed media artist Emily Beam.
Beam is no stranger to the Tyrone Art Show, having been recognized with the Excellence in Creativity Award during her senior year. She is also the artist behind the vibrant Blue Ribbon School mural, a familiar sight to all who pass through the high school’s auditorium hallway.
Following her graduation, Beam pursued a dual path in science and the arts, earning a BA in Visual Art Studies and a BS in Biology from Penn State Altoona.
Her artistic achievements during college earned her both the Zoller and Fine Arts Awards, and her work has been exhibited at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art and Blair Medical Center. Her artwork is even used in a Mammalian Anatomy course and has been published in the literary collection A Literary Field Guide to Northern Appalachia.
Currently, Beam is a medical student at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, continuing to create art while pursuing a career in medicine.
She enjoys blending her passions through mixed media, drawing inspiration from both the natural world and the intricacies of the human body.
“I’m thrilled to return to Tyrone as this year’s juror,” said Beam. “Art was such a formative part of my time here, and I’m excited to see how today’s students are expressing themselves.”
In addition to the student artwork, this year’s show will feature something new: projects from several of the high school’s vocational programs will be on display alongside the art, giving visitors an even broader look at the creativity and skills being cultivated across the Tyrone Area School District.
Prizes will be awarded to the Top Five artworks overall. Additional awards include the Excellence in Creativity Award, a Top Three-Dimensional Work Award, and eight merit awards presented to two students from each grade level.
Don’t miss this annual celebration of talent, hard work, and artistic vision at Tyrone Area High School. Whether you’re a family member, friend, or member of the community, the Tyrone Art Show is a wonderful opportunity to support young artists and see the creative spirit thriving in our schools
