Lady Eagles fall to Lady Dragons in a shootout

In a battle of who could score the most goals, the Lady Eagles fell short to the undefeated Central Lady Dragons 5-4 in Monday’s soccer match at Harry K. Sickler Athletic Park.

The Lady Eagles opened up strong, scoring seven minutes into the game. Bellwood senior Marissa Panasiti was able to lead junior Audrey Bowser into the shot to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead.

It took the Lady Dragons a little time before junior Hannah Johnston found the back of the net on a 20-yard chip.

A short seven minutes later, Central sophomore Olivia Smith found the net, and led the Lady Dragons into the second half 2-1.

To open up the second half, Central’s Ashley Negley hit a shot from 21-yards out to beat the keeper over the top.

Bowser then found Panasiti for the header making the score 3-2.

Central answered quickly from Johnston, and then 15 seconds later, Bellwood freshman Riley D’Angelo hit a shot from 27-yards out to bring the Lady Eagles within reach for the win.

Central again took the lead by two goals when Negley chipped the ball over the keeper again from 18-yards out.

Bellwood senior Raegan Plowman then drove the ball into the net on a corner kick from Panasiti making the score 5-4.

Tyrone kept battling back, but ended up falling short to Central’s undefeated season.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action tonight, Wednesday, October 7th, in Huntingdon at 6:30pm.
