Huskies bite down on Eagles in 2-1 OT loss

Junior Noah D’Angelo takes a shot.

The Golden Eagles varsity boys soccer team lost 2-1 to Bishop Caroll in overtime on Thursday, October 2.

The two teams traded field position back and forth until the 17th minute when a goal from Bellwood Junior Noah D’Angelo made the score 1-0.

“It was good to score early,” said D’Angelo.

With the score 1-0 at the beginning of the second half the Huskies were hungry but couldn’t land a goal in the net with seven shots, four on goal.

That drought ended in the 67th minute when the Eagles were fouled for obstruction and the Huskies were awarded a controversial penalty kick.

“The call was unlucky, it changed momentum of the game and infuriated the team causing us to self destruct,” said Tyrone goal keeper Anthony Politza.

Politza had 20 saves in the loss.

The Eagles struggled from frustration and were unable to score again for the rest of the game going into overtime.

The Huskies scored five minutes into overtime to win the game 2-1.
