YAN held its annual 4D movie event on Friday, March 28th. The chosen movie was Monsters Inc., and many YAN members signed up to play different characters in the movie.
This has been a tradition for YAN for years, and this year was a complete success, with approximately 75 students in grades preK through fourth grade were in attendance.
The movie was free, but the club raised $250 in donations for YAN’s charity.
YAN adviser Staci Greenleaf was pleased with the turnout and the donations.
“And of course, a big thank you to those who donated to the Panzi Hospital—we’re proud to be making a difference while having fun!” Greenleaf said.
The high school students acted out scenes in front of the crowd, while other YAN helpers passed out snacks like gummies and Cheez-its, as well as toys that related to scenes in the movie like the yellow hard hats the CDA agents wore.
This year some of the students playing characters this year were Sully, played by Landon Hamer, Mike Wasowski who was played by Avery Meyers, Randall who was played by Gayge Miller, Celia who was played by YAN president Sophia Sciarrillo, Boo who was played by Mariyah Hunter, Roz who was played by Logan Rumberger, and CDA agents who were played by Sidney Goodwin, Lexi Hess, Kylee Nelson, Olivia McMonagle, and Brienn Jones.
Before the movie started, the children received books that they could ask the characters to sign, and many of the kids got pictures of the characters in costume.
“It was amazing to see the high school students bring the movie to life and create such a fun, interactive experience for the younger kids. The energy in the room was fantastic, and it was great to see so many families come out to enjoy the event. I’m especially grateful for everyone who helped make it happen, from our student volunteers to the staff who supported us,” Greenleaf said.
After the movie was over some final statements and thank you’s were given by Sciarrillo and many of the kids got their picture taken with the photo background in the cafeteria.
The night was a great way to bring the kids of the community together for a night of fun.
