Wrestlers get pummeled at P-O
Tuesday night Tyrone’s wrestlers traveled to Philipsburg only to come back disappointed. The grapplers lost another match 54-22 to the Mounties.
The night started out rough as Phillipsburg’s 152 pounder Ty Laird got the fall over Tyrone’s Lance Loose in the first period.
Next up was Tyrone’s Phoenix Farias taking on Nick Patrick at the 160 pound weight class. Patrick had Farias cradled up and pinned in the 2nd period.
170 pounds was forfeited by the Eagles.
Next Tyrone junior John Chronister took on Joe Bickel at 182. The battle was rough as Chronister took a nasty blow to the head, stopping the match temporarily. Chronister battled but lost 5-1.
Next up was Tyrone’s Ricky Reader taking on Noah Quick at 195. Reader was relentless and beat Quick 14-1.
At 220, Dakota Walk lost to Micah Siodorick 3-1 in the last seconds.
At heavyweight Steve “Smack-down” Colyer of Tyrone took on Ed Voyzey of P-O. After a quick takedown early in the match Steve set the tone for the match and later on pinned Voyzey in the 2nd period.
“It was really great to get a pin against a good wrestler like [Voyzey].” said Colyer.
At 106 Devon Brown received a forfeit. Then came Tyrone sophomore Mikey Cherry and P-O sophomore Matt Johnson. After a fast takedown, Johnson got a quick pin.
At 120 pounds P-O’s Bryce Bennett received a forfeit.
Tyrone’s Aaron Lewis then challenged Nathan Quick, after a back and forth and exciting match, Lewis was caught on his back and pinned.
At 130 pounds, Tyrone’s Parker Alley took on Philipsburg’s Levi Hughes. Hughes went to work and got the first takedown and back points, in the 3rd period Hughes pinned Alley.
138 pounds was Sage Dixon against Dakota Weitosh. Weitosh controlled the match for the most part and ended up pinning Dixon in the middle of the last period.
Last match of the night is Tyrone’s senior Ty Snyder wrestling P-O’s Jacob Mains. Ty got a great takedown and from there was able to set up a cradle and pin Mains in the 1st period.
