Senior Alayna Woomer was named the 2025 TAHS Homecoming Queen, and Abby Anthony, the 2025 princess, on Friday, October 17th, before Tyrone’s home football game against Philipsburg.
As the ladies on the homecoming court made their way onto the field, they held their breath in anticipation. These girls have worked hard over the past month raising money, making sashes, and preparing for interviews, all to get to this moment.
The Homecoming Court raised over $16,000 for the Adam Zook Foundation in support of suicide awareness and prevention.
The runners-up were announced first. Fourth runner up was awarded to Paige Carper, representing FBLA, third runner up was Grace Corl, representing Cross Country, and second runner up was Braylinne Shaw, representing the Drama Club.
Then it came time to announce the top two places, queen and princess.
Abby Anthony was awarded the title of princess.
“When I heard my name called, I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped. I was surprised but so excited at the same time,” said Anthony, “I was also happy because I could hear all of my friends and family screaming for me in the stands.”
Anthony walked to the 50-yard line to join the other winners and receive her crown as they waited for the queen to be announced.
Everyone waited patiently as they listened to the speakers until they heard Alayna Woomer announced as the 2025 homecoming queen.
“Whenever I heard my name called, in the pictures, my mouth was wide open. I was so excited and I could hear my mother screaming her head off in the stands,” said Woomer, “Winning also felt special, really, because I was doing it beside my best friend.”
Anthony and Woomer have been best friends since childhood, and this has always been a dream of theirs.
Getting to go through this experience and being able to win together is something they will remember for the rest of their lives.
Both of these girls have worked so hard to get to this moment, so congratulate them both on this amazing accomplishment.
