Weenies will roll: Austin’s Texas Hot Dogs to relocate to temporary home

The temporary location of Austin’s Texas Hot Dogs

In February of 2015,  the DelGrosso’s Family and DelGrosso’s Amusement park announced that they will be starting a new water park expansion project that will include a lazy river and wave pool along with three new food stands.  As a result of this project, the building that houses the popular Austin’s Texas Hot Dogs will be demolished.

Fortunately, Austin’s will have an alternate location that will keep the weenies rolling for their many park-going fans.

For the opening of the 2015 Summer Season, Austin’s will park their mobile Weenie Wagon in the over flow parking area beside the Crazy Mouse. At this temporary location Austin’s will serve customers a limited menu of their famous hot dogs and sodas.

During this time construction will take place on a permanent home for Austins in the building that currently houses the Tipton Pharmacy and Wacor Electronic Systems, Inc at 4384 East Pleasant Valley Blvd.  Austin’s reports that they hope to get the new building up and running before the end of the DelGrosso’s 2015 season.

The new Austin’s will have indoor seating and offer the full menu of items that their fans have enjoyed for years.  This new location will also be open all year long.

I am excited to be able to once again rent space and keep our world famous hot dogs in the Tipton area,” said Buddy Austin, owner of Austin’s Texas Hot Dogs, “The DelGrosso Family have been great partners and as an independent business owner that is important for me. I am excited about the new opportunities and look forward to making our new location even better than before.”

However, some of DelGrosso’s seasonal employees are concerned about the temporary location.

Some employees have said that they will have to leave earlier for work so they have time to find parking and walk across the bridge.

“I’m happy to know that Austin’s is staying in the area, but employees who have parked there for years [will] now have to park over across the street by the water park,” explains Senior Abbey Gunter.
