The Golden Eagles had a close call against Central Cambria on September 7th that came to a premature end when the game was called in a 1-1 tie at halftime due to lightning.
While the Tyrone soccer team only played one-half of this game, it was probably their best half in a while. They locked down the Red Devils’ attacks and took advantage of attacking opportunities.
Tyrone came out strong, testing Central Cambria’s defense early.
Maintaining most of the possession, the Golden Eagles created many opportunities that they just couldn’t execute. However, the offensive team for Central Cambria beat Tyrone to the scoreboard, making the score 1-0.
However, within the next five minutes, Senior Captain Rocky Romani found the ball in the field at about the 30-yard line and launched it in the back of the net, tying the contest at 1-1.
Although Tyrone celebrated their accomplished effort to tie the game, they knew they still had work to do if they wanted to win the game.
With 4 minutes left in the first half, Rocky Romani fouled an attacking Red Devil, which gave him a yellow card. He would have to come off for the remainder of the first half for one minute of the second half.
Unfortunately for both teams, an unexpected turn occurred during the second half when the referees decided to call the game due to an interfering lighting storm.
It’s fair to say that this was a close match-up that deserved a second half of play. Unfortunately, it had to end in a tie, leaving the game’s true potential undetermined.
