Walls Running for State FFA Officer Position
Local Tyrone Area FFA chapter member Rayann Walls took a big step in her FFA career by applying to become a Pennsylvania State FFA Officer.
“I chose to run for a Pennsylvania FFA State Officer to help encourage other students to find their passion in agriculture,” said Walls, “This opportunity would allow me to be an influence and role model for these individuals. Being able to share my passion for not only the agricultural industry but also the National FFA Organization with other students across the Commonwealth is my way of being able to give back to the organization that guided and raised me within its branches of growth and expansion.”
Tyrone FFA advisor Tiffany Hoy thinks that Walls is a strong State FFA Officer candidate and she has been honored to watch her develop into a leader during her FFA career.
“As I have watched Rayann serve in numerous leadership positions and engaged in FFA activities, I have seen her willingness to accept responsibility, while serving as an advocate for agriculture and FFA members. Rayann has a sincere desire to work with chapter members and ag industry personnel to further advanced youth within Pennsylvania and nationally. Rayann is committed to leading by example and always encourages members to take advantage of all the opportunities available through FFA,” said Hoy.
This year there are 33 applicants running for seven state officer positions (see slideshow below). To qualify for a state officer position, applicants must be an FFA member who is graduating high school up to the age of twenty.
During their year-long term of service, the seven state officers meet with FFA members, ag business leaders, public officials, and members of the public all over the state.
In addition to in-state travel, the officers also have the opportunity to travel to National FFA events.
“Through traveling and meeting other FFA members who share the same passions, there are so many reasons to apply,” said Walls.
The applicants are from all over the state and each is hoping to hear their name be called on June 15th at the Bryce Jordan Center.
“I am slightly nervous about the interview process. There are 33 great candidates and only seven of them will make the 2023-24 Pennsylvania FFA State Officer Team. I know that [whoever is named] Pennsylvania FFA will be in great hands with this next team.” said Walls.
The Tyrone Area FFA chapter wishes the best of luck to Walls on her journey as she waits to find out if she will be a part of the 2023-2024 Pennsylvania State FFA Officer team.
