The Lady Eagles fell to Bald Eagle in three sets on Thursday, Sept. 18, dropping their record to 3-5.
Bald Eagle has a very strong offense that is hard to compete with. They also have a very well-established fan base, making their gym loud and difficult to play in.
Tyrone lost in three sets, but was able to keep each competitive.
The first set was a little shaky with the Eagles’ nerves at a high.
Senior setter Bailey Woomer started the game in Tyrone’s favor with a four-point service run, but Tyrone struggled with serve receive, making for a sloppy game and a 25-17 loss.
The second set was almost a repeat of the first, with BEA taking a 25-16 win, but this time the Lady Eagles were better receiving, but struggled with their serve and defense.
The third set was exciting for the Lady Eagles. There was a lot of communication, and Tyrone was able to find a groove. They were hoping to do a reverse sweep on BEA but ended up falling short with a final score of 25-22.
“The third set was a lot more competitive,“ senior right side hitter Sidney Goodwin said, “they were really strong at the net but during the last set we stayed close with them and were able to fight. I think if we would have played like that the whole game we would have had a better shot.”
The Lady Eagles will have three games next week, which should help both their record and confidence.
They will play at Bellwood on Monday, September 22nd, then on Tuesday they are away at Huntingdon, and on Thursday the Lady Eagles are at home versus Central.
