
Each group bringing their unique skills and unwavering dedication to the floor, the Star-Lite Independent teams, Tyrone’s Color Guard, and Percussion pulled off first-place wins in their respective categories on Saturday, March 29, at the Forest Hills competition.
Sophomore Phoebie Brown, a Star-Lite Senior twirler, was named the “Performer of the Week” at this competition for her excellent showmanship, competitive spirit, and dedication to her team. Brown also had a birthday on Friday, March 28, just a day before earning this award.
In this competition, Tyrone’s Indoor Percussion secured first place with a score of 81.30, maintaining the same score as last week’s competition in Huntingdon.
Tyrone’s Color Guard also secured a first-place win, scoring 73.69. Color Guard made a 3.55-point jump from their score of 70.14 points at the Huntingdon competition last week.
All three Star-Lite Teams brought home first-place wins, marking their fifth consecutive clean sweep of the season.
Star-Lite’s Independent A Senior twirlers brought home first-place, scoring 81.99, increasing their score by 1.37 points from their score of 80.62 at the Huntingdon competition.
Star-Lite’s Independent Novice Junior twirlers, also placing first, scored an 80.56, jumping 3.72 points from their score of 76.82 last week at the Huntingdon competition.
Star-Lite’s Independent Novice Dance team also secured a first-place win, scoring an 82.64 and jumping an astonishing 4.06 points from their score of 78.58 at the Huntingdon competition.
All five teams have only four weeks until their final competition in Wildwood, New Jersey, and are working hard to refine their performances to make them the best they can be.
The Star-Lite teams compete next at the Homer Center High School on Saturday, April 5.
Tyrone’s Percussion and Color Guard do not compete on Saturday, but continue their season at the Greater Johnstown High School on Saturday, April 12. The Star-Lite Teams will also compete there.
