Varsity football schedule for 2014 season released
Going into the 2014 season the Tyrone varsity football team has had some big and some small changes.
The big change is the head coach position, which is currently unfilled. The small changes involve the schedule.
Most of the schedule is the same as last year, but instead of the Eagles playing Greater Johnstown High School Trojans they will play Chestnut Ridge High School Lions.
Of course the biggest game of all is the legendary “backyard brawl” vs. Bellwood. The two town rivals go head to head to see who’s the top alpha team in Blair County. The second biggest game of the year is likely to be vs. Central, to whom the Eagles lost two years in a row.
The biggest change to the schedule is replacing Johnstown with Chestnut Ridge. This could affect the team standings in the playoff because defeating Johnstown, being a AAA team, awards more points and a higher playoff seed than a win vs. Chestnut Ridge.
