Tyrone’s Season Ends with 56-51 Heartbreaker to Central

Central Junior Preston Karstetter had the game of his life, leading the Scarlet Dragons with 24 points en route to a five point win against rival Tyrone.

This loss marks the end of the season for the Golden Eagles.

Central led by a good margin for a better part of the game. In the fourth quarter however, Tyrone stormed back and even had held a one point lead with less than two minutes remaining in the game.

Karstetter led all scorers, and it seemed when the Dragons needed a bucket, he was there for them.

“He just wouldn’t miss,” said Tyrone junior Dylan Thomas, “We had our hands in his face and he still drilled them.”

As for the Golden Eagles, junior Parker Mitchell led the team with 18 points and junior Dylan Thomas added 12. Tyrone’s offense was in first gear for a better part of the game, but in the fourth quarter, it came back to life.

Back to back triples and a layup brought the game briefly back in the Eagle’s hands. Unfortunately, the heroic comeback fell short.

“I couldn’t be more proud of my guys,” added Gripp, “They fought all year long. They fought back tonight. We have a great nucleus coming back next year. We have a great future.”

Tyrone finished the season with a record of 14-10.
