In a game highlighted by a great shooting performance from Tyrone’s Eli Woomer, Tyrone dominated the Bishop Carroll Huskies 76-42 on Friday, December 6th.
Woomer had 27 points on 10 shots, including six three-point shots.
Sam Crilly followed up with 11 points and Kendall Lehner scored 8 to grab a substantial lead on the Huskies in the first half.
Tyrone’s shooting helped them have a tremendous night where they went 44% from beyond the arc on the night.
“I thought we did a good job of finding open shooters and we need to figure out defensively on how to not get beat in the middle,” Head Coach Luke Rhoades said.
Tyrone senior Ashton Walk was the unsung hero of the contest. Although he only scored 2 points, he had 7 assists and grabbed 11 rebounds to give Tyrone a better position to score and take control of the game.
Bishop Carroll’s Jace Casses was almost unstoppable for the Huskies scoring 29 of the Huskies 42 points. He was heavily guarded the entire game but was still able to hit contested shots.
In last year’s game vs the Golden Eagles he scored over 30 points and was the main reason they were able to edge Tyrone.
“I thought we played well. The defensive pressure was good this game and we hope to improve,” Tyrone senior Kendall Lehner said.
The Golden Eagles played the entire game in a full-court man press that put pressure on Bishop Carroll, forcing multiple turnovers.
The Huskies weren’t able to keep up with the Golen Eagles fast-paced offense and defensive pressure.
“Whenever I got the ball it was barbecue chicken the entire night,” said Eli Woomer.
By the end of the first half Tyrone already had a big enough lead to put the reserves in and close out the game but the Golden Eagles wanted to get some more looks with their dynamic offense.
At the end of the third quarter, coach Rhoades put in some more depth and put the Huskies away with a 76-42 win to improve Tyrone’s record to 2-0 while Bishop Carroll’s fell to 0-2.
Tyrone takes on The 0-1 Bald Eagle in Wingate tonight at 7 pm.
