Tyrone’s Bad Week Continues Against Penns Valley
The Tyrone boys basketball team is in a very unfamiliar position having lost two games in a row for the first time this season.
After falling on the road to Windber on Wednesday, Golden Eagles traveled to Penns Valley on Friday night, losing a tough game 52-45.
Tyrone struggled throughout the game with 17 turnovers and went into the half down 27-19.
The first quarter was tight, with Tyrone only down by 3. However, the Rams owned the second quarter and opened up a 10 point lead by halftime.
The Golden Eagles kept trying to come back, but their attempt was refused by Penns Valley’s Zach Braught, who put up 19 points and 8 rebounds.
Keegan Gwinn led the Golden Eagles with 11, followed by Ross Gampe with 10.
The boys are back in Mountain League action and have a big game against Philipsburg-Osceola coming up. Tyrone hopes to get their momentum back and to get on a winning streak before the playoffs.
These two teams met earlier in the season and Tyrone won on the road 54-45. They are hoping to continue their winning streak against the Mounties.
