Tyrone wrestlers get pummeled at Penns Valley
Tyrone’s wrestlers traveled to Penns Valley on Tuesday evening, only to come home empty handed.
The wins were few and far between for the Eagles, but good news did come for the Eagles from Phoenix Farias, Nick Getz and Dakota Walk.
Farias gave up only one point in his win versus the Rams’ Hunter Homan.
“It was a pretty big match in my mind. It felt great to get the W,” said Farias after his win.
Nick Getz then followed up with another win beating Penns Valley’s Allen Cain, 7-3.
The next Eagles win came from Dakota Walk at 220 pounds. Walk beat his opponent, Jared Bressler, 3-2.
Sophomores Steve “Smack-down” Colyer and Mike Cherry then received forfeits for the Eagles.
At 126 Corey Hunter was pinned by Curtis Decker in the second period.
Then Aaron Lewis was pinned by Jarred Hurd in exactly one minute.
At 138, Casey Moore was pinned by Jacob Confer in 37 seconds.
Sophomore Sage Dixon held up until the 2nd period and then was pinned.
Ty Snyder, moving up a weight class, was then pinned in the first period by PV’s Andrew Hurd.
Junior John Chronister took the fall to Corey Hazel in the second period.
Tyrone’s Cody Cassler was then pinned quickly by PV’s Lucas Sharer.
In the last contested match of the night, Devon Brown held his own with Darren Yearick until he was pinned in the third period.
Penns Valley’s Jason Thicknar then received a forfeit to end the match 54-21 in favor of Penns Valley.
