Tyrone football wins in an Eagle vs. Eagle matchup
The Tyrone Golden Eagles do it again this week in a win over Bald Eagle Area.
James Oliver impressed everyone yet again with a 178 yard game, passing the 3,000 career yard mark in a 14-0 win over the Bald Eagle at Gray Field in Tyrone.
“James is an explosive powerful runner,” said Head Coach Steve Guthoff, “but he doesn’t forget to credit the offensive line for his success.”
Oliver continued to move the sticks the entire game but scored only one touchdown as Bald Eagle stopped the long run.
Erik Wagner showed why he is the starting quarterback on Tyrone’s first scoring drive when he rolled right, then scrambled left to find junior Jake Makdad all alone in the end zone. Guthoff commented, “Erik is 99% correct in his decision making, and is really just leading the offense.”
The pass protection and run plays were highly credited to the offensive line this week. The size difference meant nothing to them as they had played a great game, “They continue to impress every week, size is irrelevant to them,” said Gutoff.
Tyrone’s Defense held Bald Eagle to a no-score game, and one interception by Bakhsheshe. “They just attack and get to the football,” says Guthoff, “They all swarm to the ball and make plays.”
Tyrone faces off against Clearfield this week, “It’s going to be a brutal contest. Two physical teams with talent on both sides, it’s going to be a battle,” said Gutoff.
