Tyrone Baseball Goes Back-to-Back with Win Over Mount Union

Wednesday marked the first time this season that Tyrone varsity baseball was able to win back to back games. Although back to back wins almost happened twice this season, the boys recorded their 6th win on another late game rally.

On their second dreary game of the week Tyrone came to play against one of the top teams in their District.

Behind a hurling Matt Brenneman, who pitched all nine innings, the Eagles were able to pull off another dramatic win.

Like most games this season, Tyrone scored the first run and held Mount Union scoreless early.

Mount Union wouldn’t break their drought until the third inning when they scored 3 runs to take the lead 3-1. Tyrone responded with one run in the bottom of the 3rd to cut the lead to 3-2.

Tyrone scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning behind a Chase Maceno double and an Alex Weaver single.

However, Mount Union scored their saving grace in the top of the 7th to tie the game before heading to extra innings.

It took Tyrone 3 extra at bats to plate their winning run, but in the bottom of the 9th inning Alex Weaver singled to score Drew Hunter after Hunter tripled.

Tyrone improves to 6-10 and plays their final game today at Penns Valley.
