The Tyrone track and field teams hosted Penns Valley and Bishop Guilfoyle on Tuesday, April 15. The boys and girls crushed both teams, improving the boys’ record to 10-1 and the girls to 8-3.

The boys beat BG 135-6 and Penns Valley 104-37, and the girls defeated PV 100-41 and the Lady Marauders 101-27.

BOYS

Double winners for the boys were sophomore Drew Irons in the 200 and 400-meter dash and senior Cian Hockenberry in the shot put and discus.

The 400-meter relay team placed first with an outstanding time of 45.0 seconds.

The 1600-meter relay team placed first, along with the 3200-meter relay team.

Tyrone beat BG 135-6 and PV 104-37. The team has been improving week in, week out.

If the boys have a good meet on the 22nd, they will have a chance to compete in the Laurel Highlands championship, something Tyrone has never done.

GIRLS

Sophomore Sarah Chichester placed first in both the 100-meter dash, with a time of 12.9 seconds, and the 200-meter dash, with a time of 27.4 seconds. She was also a part of Tyrone’s winning 400-meter relay with her teammates Claire Lehman, Nicole Ramsey, and Alayna Greene.

Sophomore Josie Dicken placed first in shot put and discus. She broke the school record in shot put with a throw of 32-10. Junior Elise Volders placed second in both shot put and discus.

Senior Kylee Nelson placed first in javelin with a throw of 97-6. Junior Raeleigh Oliver placed second.

Tyrone’s 1600-meter relay also placed first, including Sarah Chichester, Alyssa Houck, Taylor Wrye, and Claire Lehman.

Junior Claire Lehman placed first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.3 seconds. Freshman Kiana Gardner placed third.

Junior Nicole Ramsey placed second in the 200-meter dash, second in the triple jump, and third in the long jump.

Sophomore Taylor Wrye placed first in the 400-meter dash and second in the 800-meter dash.

Junior Alyssa Houck placed second in the 400-meter dash and third in the 800-meter dash. Sophomore Brayleigh Flick placed third in the 400-meter dash.

Sophomore Sophia Witkamp placed first in the 3200-meter run with a time of 13:26.

Freshman Lola Woomer placed first in the high jump, second in the 100 hurdles, and third in the triple jump.

Senior Alayna Greene placed third in the 100-meter dash. Senior Taylan McGlynn placed third in the high jump.
