Tyrone Lady Eagles and the Bellwood-Antis Lady Blue Devils have designated their game on January 13th in the TAMS gym as a “greenout” to bring awareness to mental health, and to raise money to improve mental health resources for local veterans.
Both teams chose to support this cause because many student-athletes are affected by mental health on and off the court. Mental health plays a crucial role in a player’s overall well-being and success.
All the proceeds will go to the Altoona Veterans Hospital Mental Health Program. Their goal is to support veteran’s mental health, provide resources for those in need, and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
The boosters will have a basket raffle for the game and are still taking donations for their baskets.
For those willing to donate, the basketball boosters are accepting baskets and donations until January 10th.
Monetary donations can be made to Tyrone Basketball Boosters and sent to Tyrone Area High School ℅ Athletic Office, 1001 Clay Ave Tyrone PA 16686.
The Basketball Boosters would appreciate the generosity of community members in support of this cause.
The Lady Eagles (5-3) and Lady Blue Devils (4-4) last faced off on December 27th at the 2024 Fred B. Miller Memorial Tournament, where Tyrone took home the win.
