Tyrone Swimmers Split Meet with Westmont

The Tyrone Boys Swimmers continued their hot season by defeating Westmont 119-37 on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

The Tyrone Girls Swimmers, on the other hand, lost their meet to the Hilltoppers 92-37.

On the boy’s side, Patrick Van Kluenen (200 IM and 100 backstroke) was a double winner, swimming a 2:22.62 in the 200 IM and a 1:02.34 in the 100 backstroke.

The Tyrone Boys 200 medley relay team won first place in their race.

Along with them, first-place winners for the boys were Van Kluenen, Yeskey, Gallagher, Maloney, Bonsell, Dunklebarger, the 200 free relay team, and the 400 relay team.

The 200 freestyle relay swam for 1:50.94, while the 400 freestyle relay swam for 4:13.17.

The Tyrone girls lost 92-37.

Senior Sophia Cowher was the only first place individual winner for the Golden Eagles, swimming a 30.96 seconds in the 50 freestyle.

Laird, Cowher, Pennington, Price also took first in the 400 freestyle relay in 5:38.67.

The boys look to continue their stellar start to the season in the next meet while the Girls hope to continue getting lower times and search for a win.

Aidan Luther is looking to create a positive mix of creativity and productivity. He is a freshman at Tyrone Area High School in his first year at the Tyrone Eagle Eye News. Outside of school, he likes to play golf and ski. He is on both the golf team and the ski club. He is also on the cross country and track teams. He is an optimistic writer who hopes to become better not only at Eagle Eye, but writing in general. He enjoys listening to country music and some of his favorite artists include Morgan Wallen, Zach Bryan, George Strait, Alan Jackson, and Zach Top. After high school, he would like to go to college and major in either agriculture or engineering.

Shiloh Price, Staff Writer

Shiloh Price is one of the few freshmen in Eagle Eye this year. Outside of school, she enjoys dancing, reading, going for walks, and spending spare time with her family and friends. When she gets out of school she wants to go into law enforcement or the medical field. Her reason behind this is she had members of her family involved in the two fields. She had a family member die from a medical cause and would like to do anything she could to prevent someone else from the pain of nearly losing someone.
