Tyrone Swept by Bellwood at Home Opener
It was close, but Bellwood Antis held on to sweep the Tyrone track teams in Tyrone’s home opener on Tuesday. The boy’s score was 88.5-61.5 and the girls were 86-64 in favor of the Blue Devils.
The loss evened the boys record at 4-4 and dropped the girls to 1-7.
On the boy’s side, junior Kolten Miller placed 3rd in the 100-meter dash with an 11.8. Freshman Seth Hoover tied for 3rd in the 200 meters (25.1). In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Brady Ronan (55.7) took first and Kolten Miller (56.5) took second.
The 800 was promising for Tyrone with senior Adam Detwiller (2.09) and senior Colton Fink (2.12) finishing a very close second. Junior Justin Jackson also posted a 17.2 in the 110-meter hurdles.
For the distance events, in the 800 Adam Detwiller (2.09) placed first and Colton Fink (2.12) finished second. They then followed up with the 1600 and ended with Colton Fink in first with a 5.02, Detwiller in second with a 5.04.
In the jumps, sophomore Andrew Weaver (5-6) took first in the high jump followed by Brady Ronan (5-4) in third. Triple jump had Weaver in second with a 38-8. Long jump had a trio of Weaver, Ronan, and Jake Johnson. (1. Weaver, T, 19-7; 2. Ronan 19-4; 3. Johnson 19-1.)
In the throws, senior Keegan Gwinn took third in the shot put with a distance of 38-.75 and first in Javelin with a throw of 144-11. Cyrus Ahlert was third in the javelin with a throw of 115-7. Justin Jackson also got third in the pole vault with a height of 9-6.
For the girls, they had a sweep in the 100-meter dash with senior Mckenzie Latchford (13.10), sophomore Rebecca Lewis (13.6), and senior Eva Toth (13.7). The 200-meter dash had Mackenzie Latchford taking first with a time of 27.1. In the 400-meter dash, Rebecca Lewis finished first (1.04.2) and Eliza Vance second (1.05.6).
In the 800 meters, senior Stephanie Ramsey placed third with a time of 2.55. In 1600, Ramsey earned second with a time of 6.31. Emma Bartel placed third in the 3200m run with a time of 15.46.
The 400 relay team won with a time of 52.5. (Toth, Latchford, Saltsgiver, Irons).
Reagan Irons swept the jump events for the girls She was first in high jump with a 5-0, with Natalie Saltsgiver finishing second with a 4-8. In the triple jump, Iron also got first with a 33-0.5, and Saltsgiver took second with a 31-2. In long jump, once again, Irons was first with a 15-11 and Saltsgiver in second with 15.
Rayann Walls got third in both discus and javelin with both at a distance of 71-7. Victoria Reese also placed second in the javelin with a throw of 90-8.
