Tyrone spears the Red Raiders of Bellefonte

Senior Anthony Politza was again the main man for the Tyrone Golden Eagles in a Mountain League match up vs Bellefonte, scoring 15 points and snatching 10 rebounds; recording a double-double in the easy 63-31 win.

Sophomore Jake Meredith shared the wealth, dishing out eights assists. Meredith added 13 points as well, and Sophomore Parker Mitchell scored 10. Sophomore Dylan Thomas added 3 3-pointers to account for 9 points, and Senior Zack Soellner scored 7.

Tyrone started the game off scorching, with an array of shots including lay-ups, 3-pointers, jumpers, etc. Tyrone lead 23-9 after a first quarter that was over before it even started.

“Our full court press created a multitude of opportunities for us to jump ahead early,” said senior Anthony Politza.

Their press was in full effect as it got them nearly half of their points off of turnovers.

Tyrone’s success also showed on the defensive end. Tyrone held Bellefonte’s main scorer, Trevor Fortney to only 2 points. To add to that, Tyrone held all of Bellefonte’s players from getting double figures. The highest having 9 points.

Tyrone’s record now stands at 7-3, 5-1 in the mountain league, which is enough to earn them third in the mountain league, behind none other than the Bison from Clearfield, and the Penns Valley Rams.

The Eagles have a very interesting match up on Friday at home versus Bald Eagle. They will need to hustle on defense and focus the whole game if they want to win. The game starts at 7:30. Be there.
