Tyrone Softball finishes week without a win

Tyrone Softball still searches for first win of season after this past week.

The Tyrone High School softball team remains winless this season but the team has begun to show signs of improvement as the season has progressed.

The team started out the week away against the Central Lady Dragons.

Tyrone’s offense was less than impressive as they only managed one hit while plating no runs through the 2 1/3 inning long game. Tyrone was mercy ruled after Central relentlessly put runs on the scoreboard. The final score was a 17-0 loss for Tyrone. The losing pitcher was sophomore Anna Baran who struck out none and walked one batter in the short game.

Tyrone then hosted the Philipsburgh Lady Mounties on Tuesday.

Yet again it was a rough outing for Tyrone. Senior Ashley Tepsic started on the mound for Tyrone. She was able to strike out three batters and walk only one through five innings of work.

Tyrone’s offense was the source of their struggles as they only managed one run and three hits in the game. Tyrone’s defense was also less than impressive as once again they had three errors in the game.

Thursday’s game featured another home thriller against the visiting Lady Rams from Penns Valley. Penns Valley brought their fan base with them as they played a key part in this game with their screaming and cheering.  The game ended with a score of 12-1 and yet another Lady Eagles loss.

The Lady Eagle’s dropped their final home game against the lady Bearcats of Huntington 13-3.

A thunderstorm prevented the game from starting on time but as soon as they got the all clear, the teams took to the field. The game stayed close early on in the game as Anna Baran was pitching very well.

But as the fourth inning came, the Lady Bearcats began to pull away for another blowout win.

There were some highlights from the night though.   The Lady Eagles scored a season high 3 runs

The team really bounded together to show that no matter what the score was they were going to keep fighting. Mikayla Harris , and Kylie Rutherford both at RBI hits in the game.

The Lady Eagles still remain without a win as the season nears its end.
