Tyrone slays the Dragons at home 46-31

Tyrone continues to prove their dominance in the Mountain League

It was a Central night for Tyrone hoops on Friday with the girls taking on the Dragons on the road while the boys did the same at home.

Having already beaten the Dragons on their own court earlier this season, Tyrone was anticipating a tough game and through the first half it was just that.

The Dragons came out slow, scoring only 10 points in the first quarter and only 15 total in the first half compared to Tyrone’s 22 points.

After halftime the Eagles were able to take control, going up by seven in the 3rd and limiting Central to only two points in the fourth quarter, allowing Tyrone to pull away with a convincing 46-31 victory.

Tyrone guard Pooky Soellner led the Eagles with 12 points, including two threes and a perfect 6-6 from the foul line.

“We executed very well in the second half and everybody contributed,” said starting guard Pooky Soellner.

Blake Brooks scored three times and went 2-2 at the line and was second on the team with 10 points.

“Although we had some scoring droughts, we scored when needed and stopped their main two scorers from picking us apart,” said Brooks.

The Golden Eagles have now beat the Dragons twice this season, both by double digits; an accomplishment to say the least.

The Eagles next game is away at Huntingdon on Wednesday, January 28th.  Tip off is 7:00pm.
