The Tyrone Boys and Girls Track and Field teams traveled to Mansion Park in Altoona on Saturday, March 29, to participate in the 48th Annual Igloo Invitational, their first big invitational meet of the season.
“The Igloo Invitational gives us an opportunity to run against different schools and much bigger schools. It’s a good meet to see where we are going to stack up in our district,” Tyrone Head Coach Brad Kanuch said. “I was very pleased with the results of the Igloo. Our relays placed high, and we had some very good individual performances.”
The meet drew teams from 36 schools from across the state, so the competition level was high.
Fortunately for the competitors, the meet did not live up to its name. The day was mostly cloudy with no precipitation, and the temperature began in the 50s and climbed into the low 70s by the afternoon. It was a perfect day for track and field.
