Tyrone music department to stage musical ‘Guys and Dolls’ in April

Open auditions will be held on January 13 and 14

Two years have passed since Tyrone Area High School’s production of Grease, so that means it time for another musical.

This year the high school will be staging a production of Guys and Dolls, a show about gangsters and reformation.

The show will be directed by Mrs. Laura Harris and Karen Vulpy with choreography by Molly Riva.  The show will also feature a pit of live musicians from all over the area.

For students interested in being in the show, auditions will be held at the high school chorus room and auditorium on Tuesday, January 13th and Wednesday, January 14th.

Call backs will be held the following day.

Students who audition should prepare to sing either a pop or Broadway song 60 to 90 seconds in length.  Those who audition will also be required to read lines from the script and learn a dance number.

Many students, both veterans and new comers to musicals, are eager to start working on the show.

“I’m very excited to try out for my first musical. I think it will be a good experience,” said sophomore Haley Butina.

This years show is sure to attract many students and the directors are hoping for a good turn out for auditions.

Opening night will be April 10th and there will be a second showing on April 11.
