Tyrone Moves to Second Seed with Win Over Johnstown
Tyrone earned a huge win over a tough Johnstown team that they could potentially face in the playoffs again.
This game bumped Tyrone to the two-seed for the District 6 4A playoffs.
Tyrone was without senior Landon DeHaas for the evening, but the Eagles picked up the slack with a trio of players in double digits, led by Cortlynd Rhoades with 17, Keegan Gwinn with 14, and Ross Gampe adding 10.
Tyrone started the game strong, jumping to a 16-9 lead over the Trojans. The second quarter consisted of a lot of back and forth action, giving Tyrone a 7 point lead going into the half.
At the start of the second half, Johnstown came out hot and hit back-to-back three-pointers to cut Tyrone’s lead to one.
The game remained close for the remainder of the quarter until Tyrone went on an 8-0 run at the end of the third quarter.
Tyrone kept their lead through the 4th quarter and came out with a 64-54 victory.
The Tyrone JV also won, 50-46.
