Teachers at Tyrone Area School District can teach all kinds of kids at the school for seven hours a day. So to think they have any other occupations is unfathomable. But there are a few teachers who take on other jobs.
Amanda Lumadue is a tenth grade Biology teacher at Tyrone. She is also an independent consultant for “Thirty-One.” Thirty-One is a direct sales company that sells purses, totes, and organizational items. She has been a director with Thirty-One for two and a half years.
Lumadue also owns Waterwise Pools LLC in Philipsburg, PA with her husband. The Waterwise website states, “Waterwise also carries all your pool and spa needs, such as chemicals, parts, equipment, and accessories.”
Lumadue has been with Waterwise for four summers. Lumadue said, “I love teaching, but it’s nice to get out of house and spend some fun time partying with great ladies!”
Another teacher, Kathleen Beigle, teaches English 12. Beigle also works at the YMCA in Hollidaysburg as a certified spinning instructor. She teaches “Circuit Training” and “Power Hour” classes on Mondays, Thursdays and once a month on Saturdays. She’s been teaching there for the last ten years.
Benjamin Cossitor is the new Band Director at Tyrone. He is also a music teacher at Grier School three days a week. He works from 4:00 in the afternoon until 6:00 in the evening. He’s been teaching at Grier for about six months now.
Cossitor also works at the Nittany Valley Symphony as an oboist/English hornist that performs with the group for each of their concerts. He has been playing with them for about three years. He attends on Mondays from 7:30 P.M. until 10:00 P.M.
Laura Harris is a music teacher at Tyrone Area. She also is a Music Ministry Director at the St. Matthews Catholic Church in Tyrone. She has been going down there on evenings and weekends for ten years and counting.
Tyrone’s U.S. Civics and Economics teacher, Cummins McNitt also teaches Driver’s Education at TAHS. He teaches after school and also during the summer.
