Tyrone grapplers fall short vs Philipsburg
The Tyrone grapplers lost at home to Philipsburg – Osceola Wednesday night, 54-18.
Highlights for the Eagles included a pin by junior Mikey Cherry and wins by juniors Sage Dixon and Devon Brown.
At 106 junior Mike Cherry pinned PO’s Braedon Butler at 2:59.
Junior Devon Brown at 120 won his match 3-0 vs Trevin Hampton with a takedown and an escape.
“I felt like I had an edge over the kid,” said Brown, “he wasn’t necessarily the best athlete.”
At 145 junior Sage Dixon defeated PO’s Payton Moore in a 8-2 division, with a takedown, near fall of three, an two escapes.
“I just need to wrestle my style,” said Dixon, “I didn’t do as well as I should have.”
Due to an injury default senior Erick Ixtepan at 182 won his match with :26.
Senior Phoenix Farias at 170 lost a close match to Ian Klinger with a 4-3 division.
“The team struggles,” said Farias, “we need to do better at practice if we want to succeed at meets.”
At 152 senior Lance Loose was pinned at 2:21 by Dakota Weitoish.
At 132 Aaron Lewis was pinned at :37 and at 126 Duane Hann was pinned at 2:52.
Sophomore Jamal Hicks at 126 lost his match 4-15 to PO’s Matt Johnson.
At 138 Derrick Harris took a tech fall against Levi Hughes.
